Watching Swansea and Liverpool pass the ball about in front of each other yesterday it was hard not to think with envy of our early Biblical forebears, whose multi-century lifespans would have let them watch this kind of football match with a certain detachment.

Okay, Methuselah might think, so I’ve wasted one afternoon, but there’s plenty left where that one came from.
