New Chairman ‘eminently well qualified for this appointment’

The appointment of Phil Meaney as Chairman of Bord na gCon, as exclusively reported in yesterday’s Irish Examiner, was confirmed yesterday morning by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney.

New Chairman ‘eminently well qualified for this appointment’

In a statement, Minster Coveney described Mr. Meaney as “eminently well qualified for this appointment, given both his successful business background and his involvement in the greyhound industry over a period of 25 years, including his recently-held position as chairman of the Kilkenny Greyhound Company Limited”.

The Minister said that Bord na gCon has “a very important role to play in the improvement and development of the Irish greyhound industry and I am pleased that somebody of Mr. Meaney’s experience has agreed to take on the role of chairman at this challenging time and I wish him every success during his term of office”.
