No resumption this week at Shelbourne

HOPES that Shelbourne Park could resume this week have been dashed following the announcement yesterday that the meetings planned for tomorrow and Saturday have been called off.

The stadium sustained substantial flood damage after pipes burst during the cold period last week.

There will be a further announcement on Monday next when the situation has been further assessed.

Enniscorthy Track is also in the news and it will be all change at the Wexford venue when the new season commences at the start of February.

Long serving officials Mary Nolan and Stephen Cullen have stepped aside and a committee formed from the Board of Directors is currently manning things until the appointment of a Racing Manager and an office administrator.

The track will open for unofficial trials between 8 and 11 am on Saturday morning and it is hoped racing can resume in the first week of February.
