Sheepwalk Mac well drawn in Sprint Cup final
Trained by Michael Taggart for Richard Gilroy, the son of Ballymac Maeve has drawn the five trap for the final, which carries a winner’s prize of €20,000 and he has won five of the six times he has previously occupied that trap!
Sheepwalk Mac actually missed the kick in the first semi-final but his stunning pace carried him to a first bend lead and he went on to win by a length and a half from Martin LanneyYour Only Joking in 21.19. Craig Dawson’s Target Brett also made it to the final just a head back in third.
The Jim Morrissey trained Carlows Pride also has a brilliant record around Dundalk and he actually went one spot faster than Sheepwalk when winning the second heat in 21.18. The son of Top Savings got away smartly, led around the bend and won by almost two lengths from Pat Buckley’s Slick City in 21.18 with John McGee’s Cumann Carling three parts of a length back in third.

It was yesterday confirmed that the Track Bookmakers will once again sponsor the Puppy Derby at Harold’s Cross. The 72 dog event will have a winner’s prize of €25,000 and impressive money down the ranks and the first round will be run on Friday, September 10th.
While on the subject of pups, the Texacloth Puppy Derby commences at Newbridge on Friday night and there is a high class entry of 30 youngsters.
Anybody travelling to Shelbourne Park this evening are warned that there will be traffic chaos in the area. The big international soccer game will be kicking off at 7.45 at the nearby Aviva Stadium and all approach roads will be be very congested from 6 pm.
