It gets better and better for Clonakilty

I HAD a day of mixed of emotions on Saturday at Croke Park where Clonakilty captured the All-Ireland Vocational Schools title, while St Brendan’s were well beaten in the College’s decider.
It gets better and better for Clonakilty

Clonakilty were impressive in their victory which halted the three-in-a-row bid of St Malachy’s. What a year it has been for Clonakilty GAA. They have developed superb playing facilities within walking distance of the town, enjoyed a fantastic win in the Cork senior football championship and now their community college have won All-Irelands in football and hurling. Well done to all.

The Killarney lads were beaten by a better and physically more mature St. Colman’s team. Despite that final day disappointment this has been a great season for the Sem and with 12 of the team available next year they will have high hopes for 2011. St. Colman’s thoroughly deserved their success and great credit is due to the Down outfit.

It was nice to see these competitions played at GAA headquarters and under the quiet but effective leadership of schools chairman Albert Fallon the integration of both the Vocational and Colleges sector is taking place seamlessly.
