It was a remark that sparked a simmering feud between Damien Duff and Stephen Bradley but almost two years on the Ireland centurion could hardly argue with its current legitimacy.

“If we’re being honest, the standard hasn’t been great,” Bradley said as Duff’s Shels closed in on a first Premier title for 18 years, thereby denying Shamrock Rovers an unprecedented five-in-a-row.
