Defeat to PSG in the Champions League on Tuesday night means Liverpool’s impending title win will be a strange kind of glory.

The phrase comes from the title of Eamon Dunphy’s biography of Matt Busby, which framed the legendary Manchester United manager’s life within the brutal crucible of 20th-century British industrial working class life.
