I wasn’t in the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday evening but I was so excited about watching the game that I turned up the TV to nearly full volume for effect. Watching from a distance is never the same as being at the match but as soon as the game began, the decibel levels from the crowd let you know just how loud and intense the action was – on and off the field.

The supporters were clearly pumped and it was obvious how much the players were lifted by that noise and excitement. It was edgy and feisty, especially in the first half when Seán Stack doled out six yellow cards. There could have been a red too for Tommy O’Connell when he knocked off Kyle Hayes’ helmet, while Kyle could have walked too for his challenge on Tommy. But I thought Seán refereed the match appropriately and sensibly.
