Whatever way you dress it up, Kerry and Armagh in Austin Stack Park this evening is a huge game, particularly for the home side. Yes, it is only the league but there there are a myriad of factors that move the needle away from the category of a routine league game in mid-March to a must-win game of significant consequence.
For the All-Ireland champions it is an opportunity for them to cement their status at the top of the game, while also guaranteeing their Division 1 status. While they have lost both of their away games thus far, I have been seriously impressed with aspects of their performances at home.
They are adapting really well to the new rules, which is unsurprising considering the depth and quality of their squad and the collective IQ they possess on the sideline. For the home team it is a bit more basic than that. The immediate short-term focus is getting points on the board to avoid the ignominy of relegation. Considering what he has achieved in the game it is certainly not something Jack will want to have on his CV.
