When you work in a pub, there’s never any shortage of conspiracy theorists who are mad keen to express their views, and the reasoning behind them. Last week, this fella arrived into the bar and asked me if I’d heard that the Limerick-Tipperary game had been switched to Cork. No, I replied. So the customer decided to outline Limerick’s strategic plan behind the move – as he saw it.

With Limerick playing Cork in Páirc Uí Chaoimh in the championship, getting a run-out in Cork was their reason for declaring the Gaelic Grounds to be out of bounds for Saturday’s match. That was only half of the conspiracy theory, though. With Galway supposed to be coming to Limerick next weekend, would Limerick look for that match to be played in Ennis? That would be another handy reconnaissance mission ahead of ‘Savage Sunday’ on April 21st when the All-Ireland champions arrive in Cusack Park.
