AI is one of the most transformative technologies of our lifetime– and Dell Technologies is at the forefront of helping Irish businesses harness its potential to enhance competitiveness and drive future growth.
From solving complex problems to automating tasks and improving decision making, every business – irrespective of size and sector – can benefit.
Against this backdrop, Dell Technologies is working with leaders to move beyond hype and embed AI strategically, so it unlocks tangible business benefits. Embedding AI effectively can directly support business goals and drive measurable competitive advantage. At a time of so much change and disruption, it’s never been more important for Irish businesses to realise these changes.
In recent years, Generative AI has come to life with ChatGPT and other AI-enabled chatbots. The emergence of Agentic AI marks a new phase in the lifecycle of AI. These innovative systems can act independently on complex projects, and can think, plan, and take action – all by themselves – to tackle big tasks.
According to the Dell Innovation Catalysts Study, nearly 90 per cent of organisations see strong opportunities to leverage Agentic AI to create value in their businesses.
Mark Hopkins, general manager at Dell Technologies Ireland, points to the growing strategic importance of AI across Irish business, stating that “76 per cent of Irish organisations are now placing AI at the heart of their business strategy according to Dell research. The challenge for senior leaders is no longer whether to invest in AI, but how to generate tangible commercial returns. While the potential of AI to enhance business competitiveness is clear, nearly half (46 per cent) of leaders in Ireland are struggling to keep pace with advancements in the technology.
“Leaders across the country are focused on embracing AI securely and sustainably to drive innovation, unlock new market opportunities, and enhance productivity. However, finding the right path to make this happen is not entirely straightforward.”
That’s why Dell Technologies recently joined forces with the Institute of Directors (IoD) Ireland for a special event bringing together industry leaders around the country for a conversation on unlocking the power of AI for strategic advantage.
From governance and cyber security to responsible, scalable deployment, speakers outlined the practical guidance, advice, and lessons for decision makers to advance their AI journey and realise commercial gains from the technology.
Developing ethical and responsible AI governance is the first step on this journey for many firms. Recent research by IoD Ireland reveals that more than half (55 per cent) of organisations in Ireland do not have a board-approved AI strategy in place.
Setting clear AI policies and processes from the top down is crucial to ensure everyone in an organisation can safely and successfully benefit from the technology.

Speaking at the event, Caroline Spillane, chief executive of IoD Ireland, highlighted the importance of leaders in driving AI transformation: “Recent research by IoD Ireland reveals the strategic importance of AI to future business competitiveness, with 40 per cent of leaders citing AI as important for enhancing operational efficiency.
From making technology investment decisions to establishing governance frameworks, directors and board members have a crucial role to play in setting the strategic direction on AI in their organisation.
“With AI now widely recognised as a key driver of competitiveness, championing a workplace culture that encourages innovation and lifelong learning across every level of the organisation is vital to staying ahead in the AI era.”
Dell Technologies Ireland plays a pivotal role in helping leaders to put in place the right technology and infrastructure to power their AI journey. From manufacturing to healthcare, the global technology company is helping leaders across every sector shape their AI strategy and realise commercial value from the technology.

In the filmmaking industry, Dell has joined forces with Ulster University to pioneer new virtual production and cinematic storytelling enabled by Dell’s high-performance AI infrastructure. Earlier this year, it supported Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) to develop and launch an advanced AI research platform that is accelerating new research developments in cybersecurity, sustainability, and healthcare.
As the clear leader in compute and storage, Dell Technologies sits at the epicentre of advancements in AI and other emerging technologies. The company provides customers with AI solutions and expertise that unlock the power of AI, automate intelligent decisions, and help define their paths to the future.
Dell Technologies introduced the Dell AI Factory to give organisations the infrastructure, solutions, and services needed to quickly adopt and deploy AI at scale. By bringing together best in class technology, an open ecosystem, and a network of key partners, the Dell AI Factory makes it easier for customers to realise commercial value from AI.
Our Customer Services Centre Innovation Lab in Limerick enables our customers to test and experience real-life examples of how AI and other technologies can create business value for their organisation.
Speaking at the IoD Ireland and Dell Technologies event, Mark Hopkins added, “While the business case for AI has never been more compelling, many leaders across the country remain unsure about how best to turn AI’s promise into real-world growth and impact. By bringing industry leaders across Ireland together for an important conversation on the key considerations to achieve this change, we hope to fuel AI-powered growth across the economy.
“As a long-standing partner to organisations in both the public and private sectors, Dell Technologies is proud to provide the expertise, tools, and services that leaders need to drive their AI transformation agenda forward and enhance business competitiveness.”
