Elaine creates an idyllic retail space for children
Elaine Moran, founder of Maypole Lane, in Midleton, Co Cork.
Elaine Moran, founder of Maypole Lane, has spent the past four years building a much-loved online destination for thoughtfully chosen children’s toys, accessories, and clothing.
What began as a personal search for high-quality, design-led pieces during her first pregnancy soon grew into a business rooted in helping other families discover products that are joyful, useful, and made to last. Now, six months into life on Midleton’s Main Street, Maypole Lane has evolved into something more than a shop, it’s an experience.
Drawing on Elaine’s background in events and her love of bringing people together, the space has been designed to feel warm and welcoming for both children and parents. From carefully styled displays that tell little stories to a considered mix of brands, every detail is intentional. Alongside the retail offering, Maypole Lane also hosts in-store children’s events.
These experiences are at the heart of the brand, bringing moments of connection, creativity, and play to the local community. The team is also working on a beautiful, dedicated in-store event space, which will allow events to be hosted more regularly throughout the year.
Elaine’s approach to sourcing remains central to the business. Each product is chosen with care, guided by a simple question: is it something a family will truly love and use? With a strong focus on quality and longevity, Maypole Lane prioritises pieces designed to be enjoyed, passed on, and treasured over time.
With deep family ties to Midleton, opening the shop here felt like a natural step. As the business continues to grow, Elaine remains focused on creating a space that feels special, where beautiful products meet everyday life, and customers feel part of something meaningful.
