BROADALE is a large estate on Rochestown Rd, but this detached bungalow, No 5 The View, is tucked into a quiet, leafy cul-de-sac, with a neatly-mowed green out front, ringed by a screen of trees.

On a small road of self-builds, it’s a calm and private space, within the broader McInerney development.

It’s a something of a hit among downsizers who are looking for a single-storey option in a location convenient to public transport and retail.

Douglas village is only minutes down the road and bus services are regular to both the village and Cork City centre.

Jeremy Murphy, of Jeremy Murphy & Associates, is selling this 102 sq m, three-bed home, in a well-established suburban setting, and he says it’s proving extremely popular.

“It does need some upgrades, but it’s very charming and we’ve been busy with viewings since Christmas. I feel it’s one of those properties that will be ‘sale agreed’ in no time,” Mr Murphy says. In fact it’s already under offer.

Alongside location, garden aspect is another key attraction: Enclosed, west-facing and with a suntrap patio and a nice stretch of lawn.

There’s lawn to the front, too, and off-street parking for a couple of cars.

Accommodation includes a kitchen/dining room; a brightly-lit living room, a utility, three bedrooms (one with en suite); and an adjoining garage, which creates space options for any new owners who might wish to extend.

Mr Murphy says some of those viewing the property are smaller households, who could “easily convert the garage” if they wanted more space. Families will like the proximity to schools.

The Property Price Register shows just two sales in The View since 2010, and the last was neighbouring No 6 — a very different property to this one — which went for €605,000 nine years ago. The guide price for No 5 is €525,000.

VERDICT: Lovely setting. Solid home that would benefit from upgrades. Convenient to Douglas village.
