Should you renovate your home before you sell?

Upgrading your bathroom could indeed be a worthwhile investment to achieve a higher sale price but timing is key.

Hi Majella,
We are planning to sell our property later this year. The property is generally in good condition, albeit a bit dated with some loose ends to tidy up.
My question is: Should we spend money carrying out works before we go to the market?
My husband feels it’s not necessarily needed, given
the strong market and the property will sell as it is. I am considering putting in a new bathroom as it is very outdated, but will that add value to the property price?
Thank you, Paula

Deciding whether to invest in renovations before selling your property is a common concern among homeowners, and the right approach can depend on various factors — including your specific property and its location.
