In 'The Lagom Life', Elisabeth Carlsson tells us lagom is an approach to life and home that keeps Sweden in the top 10 countries for happiness.

In pursuit of family history, I finally caved and took a DNA test a while back which threw up just one surprise: I am 1% Swedish. But is that enough to explain my attraction to the Swedish way of living, its efficiency, its economical design style, and the lifestyle philosophy they call lagom (pronounced “law-gum”)?

It’s their equivalent of the Danish hygge which we’ve embraced for years now, although in a trend-driven reductionist way, much like our adaptation of feng shui.
