Magical maple holds us spellbound

The leaves of the Acer shirasawanum ‘Aureum’ also referred to as Acer japonicum ‘Aureum’ or the golden fullmoon maple.

We normally think of Japanese maples as something for the autumn garden as their foliage comes alive during the fall of the year but only yesterday, I stopped to admire a really beautiful specimen on one of my “lockdown walks”.
