Antiques: Cork dishes to cause a stir in New York

A set of four silver entree dishes from Fota will come up at Sotheby's Style online sale in New York on April 22.

The George IV dishes and covers are engraved with the arms of the Smith-Barry family.

The covers are engraved twice with heraldic arms not dissimilar to the Arms of Cork, but without the sailing ships.

The George IV dishes and covers date to 1826 and are on Sheffield plated warming stands.

The dishes are by John Bridge, London, the bases by the Matthew Boulton plate company.

They are from the estate of Andrew Hartnagle, a designer of gardens at Doylestown, PA, and are estimated at $25,000-$35,000.
