From hurling GAA All-Ireland medals to art and antique furniture in varied sales
Auction-goers have an across-the-board selection of interesting lots on offer this week. There is a collectibles sale at Whyte’s in Dublin today, and sales of antique furniture at Hegarty’s in Bandon, and jewellery at James Adam in Dublin on Tuesday.
Variety is the key at the Eclectic Collector sale, live and online at Whyte’s, at 10am today. Among the sporting memorabilia on offer is an 1893 All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Medal won by Cork, plus a Blackrock club medal.

The lot is estimated at €3,000-€5,000. There is a selection of cinema, advertising and political posters. From the John Minihan archive comes a book of Annie Leibovitz photographs signed, with a dedication to the west Cork photographer (€600-€800); there is a selection of historic maps, charts and books including a Jonathan Benington special edition signed monograph with a catalogue of early works by artist John Kingerlee (€1,000-€1,500), German militaria, rare antique swords from Japan and a strong selection of coins and banknotes.

Viewing is under way in Bandon for Hegarty’s sale which will include contents from The Glebe House, Nohoval, next Tuesday at 7pm.
There is a good selection of antique furniture including an 18th century Irish demi-lune side table in the manner of William Moore (€6,000-€10,000) and some English 18th century oak furniture as well as an Irish silver sauce boat, a carved Netsuke of a sitting man, a diamond solitaire ring, and art by Martin Finnin, Marie Carroll, Graham Knuttel and Arthur Maderson.

A cushion-shaped natural yellow sapphire weighing 20.28 carats, and a cultured pearl and diamond necklace by Cartier are among the notable pieces at the James Adam jewellery sale in Dublin at 6pm next Tuesday.
The yellow colour on the cushion-shaped sapphire results from a trace compound, aluminium oxide.

The ring is estimated at €16,000-€20,000, the necklace at €25,000-€35,000. The auction will feature diamond rings, brooches, earrings and a choice of modern and vintage watches for men and women.
