Putting snowberries under the microscope

This week we're learning all about the snowberries on our nature table.

Putting snowberries under the microscope

Snowberry is a shrub native to north America but widely naturalised in Ireland in hedgerows and woodland.

In the USA and Canada it mainly grows in wetlands but in Ireland it seems to grow almost everywhere, though it’s most often found in partial shade. It can grow up to 2.5m in height, has a straggling, untidy shape and is usually surrounded by root suckers.
