Fiann’s tips for the weekend

* On the topic of fruits, now is the time to dig up any outdoor tomatoes and hang them upside down in the poly tunnel or kitchen window to ripen the last of the fruits.

* And on ripening — any squashes or pumpkins could do with a foliage removal and sun exposure to cure them before storage.

* A blitz with the beer traps now will cull the slug population and have a good knock-on effect on numbers next year.
