Our gardening noticeboard

Matthew Jebb of the National Botanic Gardens will come to Salterbridge House, Cappoquin, Co Waterford on August 20, to give a talk as part of National Heritage Week and the Waterford Garden Trail.

His talk, entitled ‘A view from the Palmhouse’ will take us on a journey that covers Patrick Geddes; Greek education; atomic theory; flowering plant evolution; the 1801 Act of Union; St Patrick’s flag, Dublin City’s two names; Viking agriculture, alien invasive plants and climate change.

And all of these topics can be experienced from the walkway of the National Botanic Gardens, he contends.
