Work for the week

There are many other campanulas species to source,upright and spreading, and many featured prominently in the recent Chelsea Flower Show. 

Flower shows are one of the best ways to source many of the more unusual plant and bulb varieties and this is the season when many are taking place.

This weekend, take a trip to the town of Mallow in northCork to see a huge range of nurseries displaying Irish plants at their best.

First get some inspiration at the show gardens, (I will be giving a tour of the show gardens today and tomorrow at 1pm), then visit the nurseries and plant sellers to get that something special for your garden.

The show this year promises to be better than ever with a large artisan food fair, pet expo, active retired expo, and vintage fair — all part of what has now become firmly established as the top gardening show in the south of Ireland over the last 17 years.

I will be giving advice on good summer gardening practice to help bees, ladybirds and birds today and tomorrow at 4pm.

Charlie Wilkins will be speaking on best plants in the show at 2pm and Teresa O Brien will be giving floral design demonstrations each day at 3pm.
