IN achieving an immaculate house we tend to focus on the kitchen and bathroom — perhaps because they have the most obvious hygiene issues and are the two rooms used by everyone in the house.

Bear in mind the immaculate look and being immaculately clean are two different things. You may have disinfected your space to the point where germs wouldn’t dare put an unsanitary foot on your worktop, but it might not look immaculate if you have your cardboard box of tea bags and half a crumbling cake in a plastic bag propped up near the kettle. The hurdle, it seems, for most people is motivation to create the look and then maintain it.
