* Make and Take wedding flowers for DIY brides is a half-day workshop on April 2, 1.30-6.30pm.

Another option is the Church/Venue flowers bootcamp on April 9 1.30-6.30pm. They take place at Carrigaline Community School €30 each or both for €50. Contact Maree 087-2397289. Places limited.

* The Irish Garden Plant Society will meet on Tuesday, April 1, in the SMA Hall, Wilton, Cork at 8pm. Bruno Nicolai will give an illustrated talk: “Exotic Escapism”, taking you on a journey from desert to jungle, and sharing with you some of his favourite plants growing in his Cork City garden.

* Aherla Flower & Garden Club Gardening talk by Peter Dowdall on Tuesday, April 1, at 8pm in the Parish Centre Ovens. Visitors welcome.

* Cobh Flower and Horticulture Club will hold their next meeting in Cobh Community Centre on Monday, April 7, at 8pm. It will be a gardening night. Finbarr O’Mahony, Secret Garden, will givea talk on Propagation and Plants. Plants will be on sale. Visitors welcome. Admission €5.

* Free Vegetable Gardening Class at The Secret Garden, www.thesecretgardener.com) on Sunday, March 30 at 3pm. Planting plug plants, growing brassicas and general jobs for the week ahead. Special offers on the day, and all are welcome. Outdoor clothing advised. T: 029-60084

* Fota House Plant and Garden Fair Sunday, April 13. It is expected that up to 80 specialist nurseries will provide an opportunity for visitors to purchase unusual plants, including rare trees, shrubs, alpine, herbaceous and water plants at reasonable prices. Retailers providing garden furniture, pots, sculptures, ornaments and tools will also attend. The fair will run from 11am to 4pm and catering facilities will be available in Fota House. Volunteers from Fota House and from the Friends of Marymount Hospice will assist with the running of the Fair and a substantial donation will be given to this very worthy charity. Admission is €8.
