Unnatural ideas about nature
There’s some suggestion that many of his sayings were by other people — one revisionist school of thought claims the source of all his witticisms was his butler.
Anyway, it’s an interesting statement. At first sight, it looks profound. Then, you think about it and it becomes rather puzzling. What does it mean? I think it’s saying that we spend too much time analysing and classifying the natural world, and not enough time experiencing and enjoying it. If I’m right, then it is profound.
