Colour, in any walk of life, is very personal and nowhere is this more true than in the garden.

When advising on plants and layout, I am loath to recommend specific colour combinations because I think it should be individual.

You wouldn’t let me advise you on what colour clothes to wear or what colour to paint the walls in your house, would you? Likewise, the colours you use in your garden should also be your choice. Certainly read the books and listen to the experts. Study the colour wheel if you wish to see what is recommended, but after that make your own call as this is what makes your garden just that — yours. It needs your colour choice and preferences to give it that individual stamp.
