DARE I suggest a tree-less Christmas? Not that I have any intention of doing so in my own house.

Indeed the tree is the very essence of my approach to Christmas interiors, hauled from the yard of a nearby grower and transported home dangling from an open hatchback, its safety secured only by fervent prayer.
