New Homes: Supply still an issue, but first-time buyers have advantages

While new housing supply remains short of demand nationally, stock levels of new homes have increased across Cork city and country offering increased options for the buyer.

In a challenging environment such as the current Irish housing market, it’s important to embrace good news when it comes along and the good news for First Time Buyers is twofold: Firstly, the Government incentives don’t look like ending any time soon. Secondly, there are more houses being built and, depending on where you live, there is even more choice available.  

 “You certainly have more properties being completed, as well as more starting construction.” So says IPAV (Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers) CEO Genevieve McGuirk. “There are positives and negatives there, but overall, there’s a huge lack of supply which is the fundamental problem.
