Former Dunmanway dispensary, Main St, Dunmanway, Co Cork is one of seven HSE properties coming up for auction

Seven former dispensaries and health centres owned by the HSE and valued at just under €900,000 will come up for auction later this month as part of the executive’s ongoing programme of asset disposal.

All seven properties are based in Cork and include a 205 sq m, three-storey, end-of-terrace property at No 4 Carriglee, Western Rd, with an AMV of €300,000; a two-storey, 94 sq m end-of-terrace former dispensary at The Parade in Ballydehob, (€75,000 AMV);

Cobh former health centre at 2-3 Canon O’Leary Place (128 sq m, AMV €120,000); a former dispensary on Main St, Dunmanway (151 sq m, AMV €110,000); a former health centre on William O’Brien St, Mallow (398 sq m, AMV €70,000); a former health centre on Beach Rd, Passage West (181 sq m, AMV €150,000) and a former dispensary in Rathduff (67 sq m, AMV €40,000).

The properties will be sold individually by auction - overseen by Galway-based estate agents Donnellan & Joyce Auctioneers - on June 25 next.

“We’ve had an opening viewing already and there’s a healthy interest in all of the properties,” said agent Síobhra Hennessy.

All of the properties are centrally located in towns and villages with the possibility of conversion from commercial to residential, with planning permission.

Ms Hennessy said interest is particularly strong in the Cork city property on Western Road, as well as the Mallow and Passage West properties.

Previous reports have estimated the number of vacant properties under HSE control at around 200. It has been disposing of surplus assets for a number of years under Government protocols governing state assets.
