The first proper office space used by Voxpro, the call centre firm that made multimillionaires of husband and wife owners Dan and Linda Kiely, is up for rent for €92,000 per annum.

The offices at Unit 6 Nore House, in Riverview Business Park, Mahon, were used in the noughties by Voxpro, before the company sold for a reported $150m to Canadian call centre giant Telus International in 2017. The Canadian company has a large base near City Gate in Mahon.

About 20 Voxpro workers initially operated out of Nore House, up from six staff that ran the business from an office above a pub on Marlboro St in Cork City centre in the 1990s. Voxpro went on to become a global business, providing high-end call-centre operations for fast-growing tech companies, such as Google and Airbnb. After it was bought by Telus International, its workforce grew from 2,700 to 6,000 employees.

Now, one of its early homes is up for rent via Gerard O’Callaghan of ERA Downey McCarthy and he says it’s ideally suited to a call-centre business.

“There is so much infrastructure there since the days of Voxpro — internal access control, high-quality office furniture, even staff lockers. It’s as if the Voxpro staff left their desks and left everything you need in an office after them,” Mr O’Callaghan said.

The agent said the building benefited from “extensive investment” in recent years and “offers a turnkey solution for the right company”.

“The optimum buyer is someone operating a call centre or outsourcing business where the company was working out of a vast space, which it no longer needs, because staff are working from home or hybrid working since the pandemic,” said Mr O’Callaghan, adding that it’s “ideal for someone looking to rightsize”.

Accommodation at Unit 6 includes a 28sq m ground floor, with a private lobby and lift access; a 521sq m first floor; and 98sq m second floor. First-floor offices are laid out over two large open-plan areas with meeting rooms, private office, kitchen, and staff facilities. There’s additional office space on the second floor with a large server room. The overall area of the building is 647sq m and the BER is D1.

Mr O’Callaghan said the location is excellent, in a business park, with good car parking and access to public transport and the South Ring road network. It’s close to City Gate Park and Mahon Shopping Centre.
