Inspiration and imagination went into giving No. 8 Priory Paddocks in Killarney a unique, contemporary and slightly exotic look.
The inspiration for the turreted, detached property came to the owners from a restored Georgian house nearby called the Priory which is said to have been built by Lord Kenmare for a French aristocrat fleeing from the revolution. Admiring its stonework and its arched windows and doorways, they decided to include these features in the design of their new home.
The imagination involved came from architect DA Linton Ford who gave them the gothic windows and doorway they wanted and creatively added a turret with a conical roof.
It all gave their Liscannor stone clad home a distinctive look which sets it apart from the other 13 individually designed detached in the Priory Paddocks cul-de-sac.
"A lot of thought and finesse went in to the detail, even down to found edge double skirting boards," say the owners who included many period style features in the interior.
Detailing includes touches such as cornicing and coffering on the ceilings, antique style radiators at ground level as well as an elaborate marble fireplace.
Quoting a guide of €595,000, selling agents Property Partners Gallivan say that high end properties of this calibre located off the Muckross Road, within walking distance of the town centre, are not easy to come by.
Built in 2004, No 8 Priory Paddocks offers over 2,700 sq ft of living space and has been finished and decorated thoughtfully and expensively.
Despite the inclusion of quite a number of period style features it is unmistakable and unequivocally modern – with marble floor tiles, polished timber flooring and garden space finished in smooth granite paving.

The most recent sale in Priory Paddocks was of No 5, which sold for €620,000 in 2017.
