The attractions of Harbour View on Well Road in Little Island include the charming exterior of a Victorian stone cottage as well as a flower-filled garden with a few fruit-laden apple trees.

Seeking offers of €275,000 for the three-bed semi-detached property, auctioneer Joe Organ says it was built in the 1900s and has both character and old-world charm.

The current owners have added a porch at the front and a conservatory at the side and also installed double glazing and oil-fired heating. Although it has been well minded, the cottage will require modernistion and redecoration.

Accommodation includes a sitting room with a fireplace as well as a kitchen with fitted units and a stove. There’s also a bathroom, three carpeted bedrooms and at the side, a conservatory with garden views.

The gardens are quite large and include a parking area at the front as well as lawns at both the side and rear.

In addition to planting rose bushes, hydrangeas and other colourful flowers and shrubs, the owners have also add all the features you would expect find in a cottage garden including a birdbath, a birdhouse, and a raised circular patio with a table and seating.

Mr Organ says the cottage has been attracting good first-time buyer interest both because of its charm and its location. “It’s within a 15-minute commute from Cork city centre and is less than a five-minute drive to the Dunkettle interchange, the M8 motorway and the Jack Lynch Tunnel.

VERDICT: Pretty cottage with a surprisingly large garden.
