Height of style in cool Clonakilty - that’s 21
Set at the coastal town’s Desert Heights, this bright, well-proportioned Inis Cuain property oozes West Cork class, says .
Sales seem to be clipping along nicely when any of the large family homes come to market at Clonakilty’s Inis Cuain: so, will No 21 make it a smooth ‘three in a row’ in little more than a year?
Set at the coastal town’s Desert Heights, along the old Timoleague road out of Clon, No 21 hits the sale scales at 232 sq m, or 2,500 sq ft, with four first floor bedrooms, side sun room addition and the option of using one rear-set ground level room next to the guest WC as a fifth bedroom.
A modern, detached four/five-bedroomed home on a good site 1km from the town’s entry point roundabout by SuperValu, it has a €480,000 asking price quoted by joint auctioneers Hodnett Forde and Charles P McCarthy, and comes after the arrivals for sale of No 13 and No 17 since 2018.
No 17, also called Navona, came to market last summer offering four-beds and 2,000 sq ft guiding €450,000 and is now on the Price Register as having made €470,000.

It was followed by the arrival of Roclovin, or No 13, with 2,100 sq ft of accommodation and a €485,000 AMV.
That’s now marked ‘sold’ on various websites, but it’s not yet on the Price Register.
It appears that No 21’s larger than most here, and it differs also within the c25-house scheme in being one of just four of the development to have its main access and approach from the main public road, rather than being reached from within the cul de sac; instead, it has a rear pedestrian gate/access to Inis Cuain’s internal roads.
Auctioneer Maeve McCarthy of Skibbereen-based Charles P McCarthy says this home has a south facing aspect, with views over countryside fringing the town and harbour from its height, and internally is bright and well proportioned, she adds.

Rooms off a sheltered central entry point and hall include a living room with bay window and fireplace with gas fire, and across the hall’s a 30’ by 14’ double aspect kitchen/dining room with granite topped units, and there’s access at the kitchen end to a utility and to a side/gable added sun room, which has double doors opening to the rear garden.
No 21 has two of its four bedrooms with en suite bathrooms with showers, and the main family bathroom has an oval corner bath, while externally there’s a tarmac drive and good parking, with a screening front boundary of rapidly maturing trees and shrubs.
VERDICT
