Antiques and garden furniture at Woodward’s sale, says Des O’Sullivan.

No summer antique auction would be complete without a pair of proper cast-iron benches. Woodward’s will have a fine Coalbrookdale example at its sale in Cork next Saturday.

The selection of antiques on offer ranges from a Vienna wall clock estimate at €600 to €1,000, to a Regency teapot €400 to €800 and a Georgian bachelor’s chest, €300 to €500.

Other antique lots include a Georgian tea table (€400 to €600); a brass-bound cellarette (€500 to €800);

A Georgian bureau (€300 to €500);

An Irish secretaire bookcase (€700 to €1,500);

A Georgian longcase clock (€800 to €1,200);

A walnut chest of drawers (€300 to €500);

A Regency corner whatnot (€200 to €400);

A Georgian side table (€400 to €800);

And a Victorian partner’s desk (€400 to 800).

The auction will feature chairs, mirrors, silver and collectibles. The Coalbrookdale benches are estimated at €1,200 to €2,000 and a five-piece cast-iron garden suite is estimated at €800 to €1,200.

The auction is on view from 2pm to 5pm today and tomorrow, and from 10am to 5pm daily next week. It starts at 11am next Saturday with live internet bidding.
