Large affordable houses lure people from Cork to Mallow
This modern three-storey home in the north Cork town is remarkably affordable, but it’s only half an hour from the city, writes
First-time buyers from Cork city are now turning up for viewings in Mallow searching of affordable properties such as this four-bed semi at 33 The Fairways which is new to the market.
“In the last year we have been seeing more buyers coming from the city where prices are higher and where you would be lucky to find a three-bed semi in this price range,” said Mary O’Callaghan of Sherry FitzGerald O’Donovan.
She already has a few city buyers as well as some local ones lined up to see No 33, which was a showhouse when the Old Course development was built in 2007.
It’s been well looked after by one owner since then and is said to be in excellent condition. “It’s spacious and well thought-out and well finished,” Ms O’Callaghan said.
At ground level there’s a sitting room which has timber fireplace with an inset, stove set into a stone clad chimney-breast. There’s also a kitchen dining room with modern cream units as well as a small utility room and guest WC.

The first floor has two en-suite bedrooms while the second floor has two more bedrooms and a shower room. Fitted with double glazing and gas heating, the property has a high B3 energy rating. The house has a small front patio and a garden at the rear while the development has communal parking area at the front.
The Fairways is a little over 1.5km from the town centre.
It offers easy access to the N20 and an easy commute to both Cork and Limerick,” said Ms O’Callaghan.
Verdict: Affordable and modern with good space.
