Tastefully decorated turnkey in Shandon Place an ideal starter home

WHILE affordable properties near Cork city centre usually attract interest from investors, prettily decorated ones like 5 Shandon Place, off Shandon St, quite often sell to first-time buyers.
That’s according to Kate Kearney of DNG Murphy Condon who is seeking offer of in excess of €165,000 for the
two-bed end of terrace house which is located in a small gated cul de sac of just 10 houses.
The 581 sq ft property dates from 1910 and was renovated by current owners 10 to 15 years ago. “It’s tastefully decorated, in turnkey condition and would make an ideal starter home,” says Ms Kearney.

To the front there’s an L-shaped living/dining room with tiled flooring, an original cast iron fireplace and windows at both front and rear. An extension has been added at the rear for a galley-style kitchen with modern units.
A stairs in the living area leads to the first floor which has a bathroom and two carpeted bedrooms.
Outside the kitchen at the rear the property has a small paved patio with white walls and colourful hanging baskets. Because it’s at the end of the terrace it also has a raised bed at the front.
Fitted with double glazed windows and gas heating, the house has an F energy rating. Ms Kearney says that it’s a well-shaded, warm home and that the BER is what you can expect for a property of its age.
The city centre is within easy reach — it’s a six-minute walk to the North Gate Bridge, a nine-minute one to Christy Ring Bridge and a 12-minute one to St Patrick’s Bridge.
