Nano Nagle centre does fruitful deal with Kiwi

A Kiwi from the Cook Islands, and a local award-wining food entrepreneur, are to head up the new restaurant/cafe in the €10m Nano Nagle centre, in the historic heart of Cork city.

Nano Nagle centre does fruitful deal with Kiwi

Moving from running pop-ups to a permanent base, in a 21st century architecturally-designed 30 seat restaurant amid 18th century convent, heritage school buildings and new School of Architecture on a 3.5 acre city oasis setting are Clare Condon and New Zealander Makirere. Their sustainably-sourced, food ethos-grounded Good Day Deli is set to have a soft opening from December 14, to coincide with new Nano Nagle Place’s Christmas programme.

Good Day Deli had a pop-up menu at the crisp, kiosk-like 30-seat cafe as an ‘appetizer’ as part of last month’s Cork Jazz Festival and is just concluding lease details with the rejuvenated and re-purposed Nano Nagle centre which opened in mid-summer. It’s also where the joint UCC/CIT School of Architecture is due to be sited from next year, at the Western Apex, in a further €10m building investment, to be leased to the school over a 10 year period.
