Affordable attractive three-bed well-suited for first time buyers

A well-cared for property close to Cork’s suburbs has some attractive features that raise it above the norm, writes Trish Dromey.

Affordable attractive three-bed well-suited for first time buyers

Rochestown, Cork City - €270,000

Size: 117sq m (1,261sq ft)

Bedrooms: 3

Bathrooms: 3

BER: C1

Set in a small mixed development off the Rochestown Road, No 5 Woodville is a slightly larger than average three-bed terraced house which has been very well cared for by the family which bought it new in 1997. Located a little over 3.5km from Douglas village, it has 1,261 sq ft of living space and is on the market with a guide of €270,000.

Selling agents Jeremy Murphy say it’s in lovely condition and has some nice features.

“The owners have put in solid timber units in the kitchen with a granite topped island as well as solid fuel stove and a garden patio,” adds Mr Murphy.

The main living space is a large sitting/dining room with timber flooring, a fireplace with a stove and French doors opening out into the back garden. There’s also a guest WC and at the front a kitchen with fitted units and appliances and an island unit with stools.

Upstairs there’s a bathroom, an en suite master bedroom as well as a girl’s bedroom, pink with a touch of Disney, and a boy’s bedroom with bunk beds and superhero décor.

To the front, there’s small graveled area with railing, window boxes and rosebushes. To the rear there’s a patio, a shed and a small lawned area with space for a little slide. The development has communal parking spaces.

Pointing out that the property provides good access to schools, shopping centres and churches in Douglas, Mr Murphy says this is an attractive buy for first time buyers.

Properties in this small development don’t seem to change hands too often — the only one to be seen on the Property Price Register is No 8, an apartment which sold in 2015 for €156,000.

VERDICT: Affordable — with a few extra touches to make it homely.
