Starter home: Carrigtwohill, Co Cork €250,000
One of the first viewers who looked at 65 Rocklands in Carrigtwohill put in an immediate bid of €260,000, €10,000 above the asking price.
Garry O’Donnell of ERA Downey McCarthy says there has been a lot of first time buyer interest in the four-bed property which he describes as well maintained, recently refurbished and spacious.
“Viewers have come from Midleton and from Cork city — people are travelling to get better value,’’ he adds.

Built in 1998, the property has 1,400 sq ft of living space which includes a front living room with timber flooring and a fireplace as well as a tiled kitchen dining room with cream units.
There’s also a timber-floored family room, a utility room, a guest WC and a room in the single storey section at the side which could be a fourth bedroom or a playroom.
Upstairs there ‘s a bathroom and three bedrooms – two singles and a double.
Providing a cobblelock driveway at the front with space for one car, the property has a lawned garden with a shed and a patio at the rear.
Mr O’Donnell says Rocklands is a popular development situated within a five-minute walk from Carrigtwohill village and a ten-minute one from the railway station as well as a 15-minute drive from Cork city.
The most recent sale recorded in Rocklands by the Property Price register involves a similar property at No 40.
This sold for €270,000 on May 5 just days before No 65 came on the market.
Would make a spacious starter home.
