This Co Cork cottage has its very own bar at the end of the garden
The owners of Mountleader Cottage in Leamlara don’t have to worry about driving home from the pub because they have their very own bar at the bottom of the garden.

While some homes find space for a small bar area , this one has a whole outbuilding — complete with Irish and world flags, a bar counter, high stools, beer taps, and barrel tables.
For entertainment there’s a dartboard, a pool table, a foosball table, a juke box, and even a karaoke machine.
“It’s great for parties — we’ve had birthdays, my daughter’s confirmation party here and we always have a gang in to watch Euro matches,” says the owner who has been adding to his sports memorabilia collection since 2007 when he bought the house and converted a dog shed into “Duggy’s Bar”.
Although Mountleader Cottage is the name on the gate, it hasn’t accurately described the property since it was extended into a two-storey 3,500 sq ft house in 2004.

Now on the market with a guide of €395,000, it has four living rooms, five bedrooms, and ample space for even the largest of families.
On a site of an acre and a half, it also has a double garage and an enclosure where the owner now keeps dogs but was previously used for ducks, chickens, and at one point, a pot-bellied pig.
Accommodation in the original cottage at the front includes a timber-floored living room with a stove as well as three bedrooms.
Beyond the bedrooms there’s a 22ft-long kitchen with cream units and black and cream floor tiles as well as a black and cream tiled bathroom with a jacuzzi bath.
Alongside the bathroom, is a hallway with a separate entrance which connects the old cottage to a modern two-storey extension.

At ground level, the extension has three very spacious living rooms. This includes two connected 20ft-long timber floored rooms — one has a fireplace with a stove and built-in cream units while the other has two sets of patio doors.
At the very back of the property there’s a tiled sunroom with six full height windows. Used for TV viewing this has a pull down screen which allows it to be turned into a cinema room.
In the upstairs section of the extension there are two en suite bedrooms accessed by separate staircases. The extra-large master bedroom has two shelved walk in wardrobes and an en suite with a bath. The second bedroom — decorated in pink for a girl — is smaller and has an en suite with a shower.
Situated on an extra long narrow site, the property has a driveway which runs all the way from the gate to the bar.

The property has two areas of lawned garden — one directly in front of the cottage and another beyond the extension which has been turned into a children’s play area.
Beyond the bar there’s a large field with an animal enclosure which could be put to a variety of uses.
Located at Ballysallagh, Leamlara, Mount Leader Cottage is 8kms from Watergrasshill and 20 from the city centre.
Selling agent James Colbert of Colbert & Co Estate Agents says this exceptionally large property, with its large site and range of outbuildings, offers space for any kind of home enterprise.
Describing it as a spacious and comfortable home for any size family, he says it’s already getting good viewings from trade-up buyers in Midleton and Leamlara.
The bar would be a great place to watch the 2018 World Cup.
