Behan Irwin & Gosling acquires Downing Commercial
The firm, which handles commercial and residential sales, and which was founded in 2014, will merge with Downing Commercial, a specialist agent in the commercial market, founded in 2008 by John Downing.
Directors of BIG, Cearbhall Behan, Mark Gosling and Sonya Irwin run commercial, residential and property management divisions and the acquisition will chime with their existing base, says Cearbhall Behan.
The new entity will trade at 40 South Mall under both names; Behan Irwin & Gosling and Downing Commercial, for the foreseeable future, he says. Downing Commercial’s website and telephone numbers will also remain the same.
“The synergy between the two firms is considerable, “ adds Behan.
“John Downing has been involved in the Cork property market since 1978 and has an extensive client base and considerable market knowledge, while our firm can offer a full residential sales and property management division to the clients of Downing Commercial.
“The acquisition provides an exciting opportunity for our clients and staff, while the enlarged firm will be perfectly placed to take advantage of the ongoing recovery and expansion in the property market.”
The long-standing and highly-regarded practitioner, John Downing, will remain on as an advisor to the new entity, while senior surveyor with Downing Commercial, Anthony Quinlan, will join forces with the merged firms and will ensure the smooth transition to the combined entity, the company says.
