Pitch for Turners Cross Tavern at Allsops auction

CORK’S suburban bar the Turners Cross Tavern is among 26 lots to go under an on-line auction hammer at months end.

Guided at €350,000-€400,000, it’s one of the smallest of the several dozen commercial and investment lots expected to gross over €18m by Allsops.

The traditional suburban bar, closed for a number of years and near the FAI’s Cork City pitch, as well as Musgrave Park, extends to over 6,000 sq ft and was extensively refurbished over a decade ago.

It was on the market since in 2013 by private treaty, guiding at €375,000.

Earlier this year hotelier and restaurateur John Gately’s name was associated with a possible purchase of the Tavern.

On a corner site by the architecturally-distinguished 20th century Christ the King church, and within a walk of the city centre in a populated area, it has a bar and lounge at ground floor level, kitchen and stores at first floor level, plus offices.

The November 24 online Allsop Private auction catalogue comprises a range of predominately income-producing urban investments, with yields from 7% to 25%.
