GIVEN that house prices in Kinsale are said to be increasing at a faster rate than anywhere else in the country, house hunters will be relieved to discover they can still find a detached cottage in the famous gourmet town with a guide of €230,000.

Located within a short walk from shops and restaurants in the town centre, The Corner House on Catholic Walk is a three- bed dormer property with distant views of Kinsale Harbour from the back yard.

Selling agents Engels & Voelkers say it’s ideal for first time buyers but could also be bought for holidays or as an investment.

Built in the 1990s, it has 861 sq ft of living space and is said to be in reasonable condition, although in need of upgrading.

Accommodation includes a timber floored sitting room with a fireplace as well as a kitchen with cream fitted units, a built-in bench, and terracotta-tiled flooring.

On the upper level there’s a bathroom and three timber-floored bedrooms.

The house is fitted with double glazed windows and it has oil fired central heating.

To the side of the property is a separate entrance leading to a shed and an area with two off street parking spaces.

Patio doors from the sitting room open out on to a short patio at the rear enclosed by timber fencing.

Auctioneer Ron Kruger believes it would be hard to find anything more affordable than this in Kinsale, especially not a detached property.

He says interest has been good and that he’s shown it to first-time buyers, downsizers, and investors.

VERDICT: Affordable for Kinsale
