The late Joe Carey, RIP

The death has occurred of one of Cork City’s longest-practicing property professionals, developer, estate agent and keen historian associated with the ArCH Project with UCC’s History department, Joe Carey.

Mr Carey headed the RE/MAX estate agency franchise in Cork city for many years, and previously traded under his own name as well as having been a co-director of the previous firm Carey Sheahan.

A UCC Dairy Science graduate, Mr Carey got his first property development experience in Canada in the 1960s, and on his return to Ireland began development projects and auctioneering in Cork city, acquiring brownfield development sites in locations like the Kinsale Road and Watercourse Road.
