For the past week, there was no end of activity in full, constantly changing view of this dormer home on Crosshaven’s Camden Road: it had a grandstand view above all the comings and goings of the 100-plus yachts taking part in the racing at Volvo Cork Week.

Sensibly named Bay View, now for sale in the midst of summer seaside and sailing activity, it is a 2,200 sq ft, five-bed, brick and dash-finished dormer home on the elevated road out from Crosshaven village to Camden Fort.

Carrigaline estate agent Michael Pigott guides the well-kept Bay View at €500,000, which is at the upper end of the price scale for houses in the area... although as a sort of random price comparison, the nearby Crosshaven Boatyard does have a couple of 50’ long yachts at similar prices: one’s a Round the World 58’ footer, timber hulled, guided at €485,000.

By comparison, Bay View is well anchored and has a 180-degree view of the Owenabue estuary and Crosshaven, Currabinny, Cork harbour and over to Haulbowline and Spike Island, notes Mr Pigott.

It has a sunroom to its rear with patio and decking alongside for those same views. It has five bedrooms and living rooms on both levels.

Overall condition is very good, and the sloping site has off-street parking, landscaping, patio/terrace behind with tiered garden, leaving full access to the water views beyond the Point Road beneath.

VERDICT: Worth viewing
