125-acre dairy farm for sale in Golden Vale
It doesn’t read any better than that and it’s no surprise to hear from the selling agents of a 125-acre farm in the townland of Killacolla, Kilmallock that there is very strong interest.
“This would be top-class land,” says Kanturk-based Liam Murphy who is joint selling agent of the farm, along with Wheeler Auctioneers in Hospital, Co Limerick.
It is essentially a non-residential farm, containing a farmhouse and a series of outbuildings — all of which are in a derelict condition.
There’s certainly nothing derelict about the high-quality pasture land which lies just west of the N20 Cork-Limerick road; 8km to the northwest of Charleville and approximately 40km south of Limerick city.
In other words, this is a strong central location, surrounded by farming interests and with good access to important markets.
“This farm has been in the family for four generations and we’re expecting a price in the region of €12,000 per acre.”
That is certainly a strong price for any good farm in these uncertain times for dairying, but this is a farm that can be used for any farming activity and it isn’t every day that a holding of this size in such good stead appears on the market.
“The fields are fine-sized ones and the land is good and level,” adds Liam, who confirms that there has been strong interest in the property over the last three weeks from across Munster.
