Garden key to Tembani appeal in Glasheen Road gem

Glasheen Road €295,000

Sq m 94 (1,010 sq ft)

Bedrooms: 3

Bathrooms: 1

Best feature: Garden and location

Getting a deserved full cross-section of viewing interest is Tembani, a mid 1900s bungalow in a hidden hot-spot with garden, just west of Cork city centre, between the Glasheen and Magazine Roads.

Sharing its name with a South African setting, Cork’s so-suburban Tembani is close to UCC, and to the Lough, while the most special key to its appeal is its garden, facing full south behind and running towards older, terraced early 1900s houses along the Glasheen Road.

And, Tembani, or No 5 Coolgartan Park, is a good size to boot at a little over 1,010 sq ft, with a handy 43’ long storage garage/shed running along most of its rear garden edge, and this good-sized back garden has side access left and right of the single story, well-kept house, which also has off-street parking.

Key too is its setting, within a walk of the city centre. It’s at the end of a very short cul de sac tee off within Coolgarten Park, and shares this less-travelled backwater spot with seven or eight other bungalows.

Even though Tembani’s a little on the old-fashioned side inside, its selling agent Timothy Sullivan says it’s spotless and appealing, has two reception rooms off its central, parquet floored hall, plus small kitchen/diner overlooking the sunny back garden.

In addition there is a utility and bathroom.

Star draw, though, no two ways about it, is the garden and aspect, attracting early viewers like bees to flowers and creating its own quiet pre-summer buzz.

Guiding it at €295,000, and already under offer at €285,000, Mr Sullivan has had some better off first time buyers to visit, as well as traders in, and traders down.

It’s a good fit for any and all, Mr Sullivan observes and the tranquility and appeal of the old-fashioned garden will be the clincher.

VERDICT: Tembani’s worth beating a timpani drum about.
