Dip an oar into Westbury on Beaumont Drive

There’s a lath and canvas, old-school Irish currach upended in the shelter of Westbury’s carport, all ready to be towed to the Lee around Blackrock, at a moment’s notice, or a good forecast.
It’s seemingly quite an anomalous, or out of its time, addition to a suburban home, even in Beaumont Drive, off the main city-Blackrock Road, but then again, currach building and racing is in vogue in Cork due to Meitheal Mara, with its Rás Mór, or Ocean to City boat race, due on June 4: get rowing.
