AS a seaside cottage, No 1 Cow Lane in Ballycotton is as pretty as you could wish for and quite a bit larger than you might expect.

Located within a few minutes walk from a stony beach where locals swim and also from restaurants and pubs in the village, it’s an old fisherman’s cottage which has been extended and modernised.

The addition of a sizable extension at the rear has increased the living space to 1,160 sq ft.

Selling agents Cronin Wall Properties say it’s a charming, very well maintained property with sea views which is getting good viewings from holiday home hunters.

The pretty blue door on the white cottage leads into a large tiled sitting area (17’ by 19’) with a fireplace and a stove.

To the rear there’s a utility room, 17’ft long kitchen/dining room which has modern cream units with appliances Upstairs is a shower room and three bedrooms.

Fitted with double glazed windows and electric heating, it has an F energy rating.

The extension has taken up most of the cottage’s garden space but there is a graveled area running along the side, with small area outside the kitchen.

Auctioneer Shay Cronin says that although the property could be used as a permanent residence, most of the viewings have been with people thinking about holidays.

“Interest has come from Cork city and Tipperary and I’ve also show it to a UK couple".

End of terrace in a row of just three, the cottage is guiding at €155,000. No 3, a smaller property at the other end of the terrace, sold for €134,000 in 2013.
