Estuary view makes Gurteen in Rochestown a real one-off
There’s a fair share of c €400/500k-plus properties in Cork’s Rochestown, many of them in upmarket estates, but the home Gurteen is more of a true one-off, with a split level architectural elan, albeit from decades ago.
The detached, 1,800 sq ft build on a one-third acre sloping site at Coach Hill was a corporate rental of late, and is being sold unfurnished by Barry Smith of James G Coughlan Associates, who has it under offer at the €495,000 guide price.
It shows up online as having been for sale a few years ago at €425,000, but it was withdrawn from the market which has now recovered quite a bit since price-wise.
We also covered it here back around 2002, at €320,000, and again in 2006 when its asking price had zoomed up to €850,000, in pre-Price Register days.
According to Mr Smith, today Gurteen “absolutely oozes character” with views from main rooms and its sun room and elevated decking, overlooking the Douglas/Mahon estuary, withapartment blocks all-a-glitter by night at Hartys Quay and Jacobs Island.
